Course Selection
Planning your future schedule is an important part of your high school journey, so we have created a process for students to receive guided help in choosing their future course selections.
Please engage in conversations with your core and elective teachers about course recommendations for next year. Your teachers are the experts in their subject areas and can assist you with selecting future classes that are appropriate for you. You will also have an opportunity to sit down with your school counselor for an individual future course selection meeting. During that meeting your counselor will discuss your future aspirations, review your selections, and make any needed changes or recommendations based on your plans, progress, goals, and needs. We want to reassure students that if they feel a change is needed or perhaps that they made a mistake, it can and will be corrected.
Dates to Know
January 27, 2025: Information shared via 5th period class with all students about course options and the course selection process. Resources will be posted to Schoology.
February 10, 2025 - February 25, 2025: Students (through ELA classes) visit the Theater to meet individually with the counselors to review course selections.
Current 8th grade students:
The MHS Guidance team will be coming to meet with you after Spring Break. Join us at MHS on March 27 from 6-8pm to walk our campus, speak with 9th grade teachers, tour our Programs of Study, speak with athletic coaches, explore our after school clubs, and get prepared to continue your educational journey to Matanzas High School.
