Programs of Study
Matanzas High School embraces the Flagler Schools vision of providing personalized learning to students while supporting the culture of innovation that engages and motivates students to seek their maximum potential through Programs of Study. By providing opportunities for every student to explore, expand, and succeed in high-interest fields that are relevant to them, we can provide an optimal learning environment for each of our students.
The programs of study at Matanzas High School offer students the ability to discover paths to help lead them from the classroom to the career of their choice. Matanzas High School has based their Programs of Study on the targeted industries in Flagler County, as identified by the Flagler County Department of Economic Opportunity, as well as desired skills identified by the Federal Department of Labor and local organizations such as Career Source.
Flagler Schools uses School Choice as a strategy to ensure that students receive the education that best meets their needs.
Programs of Choice are the Programs of Study at each of our high schools that are eligible for School Choice. Students accepted into these programs have the opportunity to explore options outside of their attendance area zone by enrolling in a specific set of courses with a designated focus.
MHS Programs of Choice
- Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE)
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Law and Justice
Step Two: Students will be notified of acceptance into a Program of Study via their Flagler Schools email.
Step Three (Program of Choice Applicants Only): Students interested in enrolling in a Program of Choice must be accepted into the school's Program of Study. Upon acceptance into the MHS Program of Study, out-of-zone students must also complete the district's Program of Choice application which is located on the School Choice page of the Flagler Schools website.
