AICE

The AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) program caters to academically proficient students as an international pre-university curriculum and examination system. It is a globally available three-year curriculum implemented in educational institutions, providing flexibility. AICE offers specialized courses aimed at preparing students for honors degree programs. By promoting rigorous academic standards, the program establishes a solid foundation for further studies at the college and university levels.

The AICE Diploma is granted based on performance in examinations and coursework upon completion of seven full-credit courses. To ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded academic experience, the diploma mandates that students undertake a minimum of seven full-credit courses, including at least one course from each of the three subject areas, along with Global Perspectives. For students who do not meet the requirements for the full diploma, they are awarded Advanced (A) Level and Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level certificates, which list the subjects they have successfully completed. Furthermore, all students who pass the exams also earn college credits. The AICE program offers an exceptional level of flexibility within this framework, allowing students to tailor their curriculum to align with their interests, abilities, and future aspirations.

The AICE program, administered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) division of the esteemed University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, introduces an innovative and accelerated approach to education. For over 170 years, the University of Cambridge has set the global benchmark for curriculum standards through its examinations. The AICE program has been warmly embraced by American universities, with the Florida Legislature recognizing it as a graduation option and an avenue for acceleration, allowing students to potentially earn a large amount of college credits before high school graduation. Students who attain the AICE Diploma become eligible for the prestigious Florida Bright Futures Academic tuition scholarship. By successfully completing the AICE curriculum, students are equipped with an exceptional foundation for advanced studies in any part of the world. Matanzas High School takes pride in being among the institutions to offer the AICE program in the United States.
